Arrival at Kilimanjaro airport in Tanzania

Up on your arrival at Kilimanjaro airport in Tanzania where you’ll be met with your driver who will drive you to hotel/lodge in Arusha for meals and overnight.in the lodge our senior staff met you for short safari briefing. Some activities can be arranged depending on your arrival time i.e.  Walking around the local village, visit the local market or cycling around the village.

Kilimanjaro airport is located at the foot of the highest mountain in Africa and is the main door to the major attractions in the northern circuit of Tanzania. It is Tanzania’s second busiest and largest airport after the Julius Nyerere International Airport in Dar es Salaam. After your breathtaking journey, you will check in and have the rest of the day to rest and enjoy dinner at the lodge.

Tarangire National Park

You will depart for Tarangire National Park for a day game drive.Tarangire is a park of giant baobab trees, rolling savannah and acacia parkland. Home of the rare tree-climbing pythons,
Tarangire National Park is spectacular in the dry season when many of the migratory wildlife species come back to the permanent waters of Tarangire River. Huge herds of wildebeest, zebras, elephants, eland and Oryx gather to stay in Tarangire until the onset of the rains when they migrate again to good grazing areas.

The park covers approximately 2600 square kilometers and, in the dry season, is second only to Ngorongoro Crater Conservation Area in concentrations of wildlife. Tarangire lies to the south of the large, open grass plains of southern Maasailand, and derives its name from the Tarangire River, which provides permanent water for wildlife in the area.

And just like many parks in Tanzania, this one also has an abundant array of 550 or more species of birds setting the stage to an incredible bird watching experience.

Meals and overnight lodge/ tented camp.

Lake Manyara National Park

After breakfast, leave with picnic lunches for Lake Manyara national park for game viewing, Lake Manyara National Park has a wonderful mosaic of different habitats, which attracts a whole host of animals including a high density of elephants. Look out for monkeys, antelopes, zebras and hippos too.

There are also lions and some have developed the unusual behavior of climbing trees for their afternoon snooze. However, they have not mastered the art of dragging their kill high into the branches, as the leopard is so adept at doing.

Birdlife is fascinating at Lake Manyara and numbers are at their peak during the rainy season when seed-eaters, insect-eaters and water birds thrive. Nomadic quelea (finch-like birds), gather in breeding flocks of many thousands and fly across Lake Manyara National Park in vast twittering clouds.

Pelicans, storks, geese, herons and cormorants share their water world with migrant flamingoes, which come and feed on the algae rich water and turn the crystalline edges of the soda lake a vibrant pin
Tucked between the majesty of the Rift Valley wall, Lake Manyara National Park is a thin green band of forest. There is surprisingly varied vegetation which supports a wealthy wildlife. Deep in the south of the as hippo wallow near the lake park, hot springs bubble to the surface

Serengeti National Park

Serengeti Park covers 14,763 sq. km of endless rolling plains, which reach up to the Kenyan border and extends almost to Lake Victoria. The park is flourishing with magnificent wildlife. An estimated 3 million large animals roam the plains. People of the Maasai Tribe called it Sirenget – ‘the place where the land moves on forever.’ The Serengeti is known as one of the best wildlife sanctuaries in the world. Meals and overnight at Serengeti lodge/tented Camp.

Olduvai Gorge is an archaeological site located in the eastern Serengeti Plains. The gorge is a very steep sided ravine roughly 30 miles long and 295 ft. deep. Exposed deposits show rich fossil fauna, many hominid remains and items belonging to the one of the oldest stone tool technologies, called Olduwan. The time span of the objects recovered date from 2,100,000 to 15,000 years ago.

The main Olduvai Beds are in a lake basin about 16 miles in diameter. The rocks under the basin date to 5.3 million years ago.

Tracking the Migration in Serengeti Park

Breakfast at your Lodge, full day game viewing in the Serengeti plains following the migration trails, about 2million wildebeest migrating through to Serengeti and sharing the park crossing the border to Maasai mara game reserve in Kenya side. Afternoon break your packed lunch in the bush evening meals and overnight at lodge/ tented camp.

The annual wildebeest migration of herds in Northern Tanzania and Kenya is one of the world’s most spectacular wildlife events. Often referred to as the ‘Greatest Show on Earth’, The Great Wildebeest Migration is a movement of approximately 1.5 million wildebeest and zebra throughout the Serengeti and Masaai Mara ecosystems.

Despite the wealth of maps and illustrations showing the path of the migrating herds, as with anything in nature, the actual day to day pattern is unpredictable. As a trip.me expert we have studied and planned itineraries to fit in with the moving herds for over ten years, but cannot hope to say exactly where they will be next year!

Ngorongoro crater – The Collapsed volcano

Being the world’s largest unbroken caldera, Ngorongoro is home to over 25,000 animals. It is considered one of the best game viewing spots in the world with a chance to see the big five, zebras and wildebeests. The crater holds almost every individual species of wildlife in East Africa including the extremely rare and critically endangered Black Rhino evening drive to your lodge/hotel for dinner and overnight.

Strangely enough the Crater is sometimes visited by the Maasai with their cattle who are capable of co-existing and sharing the rich grazing with the wild animals.
