Climbing Overview
The Marangu route is the oldest and by far the most popular route and considered to be the easiest path on the mountain. It is also known as the “Coca-Cola” route, because the route is the only one that offers sleeping huts.The minimum days required for this route is five, but an option of an extra day to acclimatize is highly recommended.
Full Itinerary
Upon Arrival
Arrival at Kilimanjaro Airport transfer to a lodge or hotel in for dinner and overnight.
Mandara Hut
After breakfast we will transfer to the gate 1800m of Kilimanjaro National Park with your guide, assistent guide, cook and porters. After registration start climbing through dense semi-tropical to the first hut -Mandara hut.
On the way you can see Eucalyptus trees, birds and the Colobus monkey. Dinner and overnight stay at Mandara hut at 2750m.
Horombo Hut
After breakfast ascends through the alpine meadow, grassland and moorland to Horombo 3780m hut. Dinner and overnight stay at Horombo hut.
Horombo Hut
Spend a full day at Horombo huts 3780m, today we will walk around thene arby up hills/surroundings in order to acclimatize, dinner and overnight stay here.
Kibo Hut
If you wake up early you can take some great pictures of the sunrise. After breakfast you are starting to climb again. The landscape becomes very stony and eroded.
Spectaculair mountain vegetation like giant cactus, groundswell and lobelia apear on the way. Dinner and overnight stay at Kibo hut at 4700m.
Kibo Hut to Summit to Horrombo Hut
Wake up at midnight for a snack and proceed to the summit through Gilman’s point 5695m, and from Gilman’s point to Uhuru peak 5895m.
Thus reaching the peak in the early morning and then start descending after picture taking on the top (Uhuru Peak) to Horombo hut 3780m for dinner and overnight we will make a short break at Kibo hut 4700m. Dinner and overnight at Horombo Huts.
Horombo to Marangu Gate
After breakfast descend from Horombo hut to Marangu gate 1800m,transfer to Arusha for a day room evening drive to Kilimanjaro airport for your international flight.
