Overview
Located in the remote western part of Tanzania, Katavi National Park is one of the country’s most untouched and least-visited wilderness areas. Best Time to Visit Katavi National Park
Dry season
From June to October, when water sources in the park become limited and wildlife gathers around rivers, lakes, and floodplains.
This makes it easier to spot large herds of buffalo, elephants, and antelope, as well as predators like lions and leopards. The dry season also provides ideal conditions for game drives, walking safaris, and wildlife photography.
Wet season
from November to May, offers a different kind of experience. The landscape becomes lush and green, and migratory birds fill the skies, making Katavi a paradise for birdwatchers.
Although wildlife may be more dispersed, the wet season provides a quieter, more remote safari experience with fewer visitors and stunning scenery.
